Leo earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from URI, and later an MBA from the University of Hartford. His entire career was spent at Pratt and Whitney working, at first, on jet engine design and development, and later in Customer Service. He traveled extensively throughout the world, helping customers and working on engine/airframe integration with Boeing and Airbus. He was active for 25 years in local government in South Windsor, CT where he lived, before moving the Charlestown, RI. He served for two terms on the town council, served on Planning and on two Charter Revision committees.
Born and raised in Providence, he visited the ponds to boat, fish and scallop as a youngster and has loved the Ponds ever since. He has owned property in Charlestown since 1970 and moved here full time in 2000 after retirement. He served as the Chairman of a Charlestown committee to review and update the senior tax code provisions in the Charlestown Town Charter. He is also a member of the URI Engineering Advisory Committee, the Alumni Association Board of Directors for URI, and a URI Foundation Trustee.
He is committed to working at maintaining the cleanliness of the Salt Ponds and the drinking water in the area, believing that they are inextricably tied to the economic health of South County and the entire state. They are also the mainstay of the great community and ambience that we enjoy in South County, and therefore deserving of all the support we can bring to bear for their beauty and cleanliness.
